Social Activities
When you join Bowral Golf Club you will find yourself amongst friends with on-course activities of golf and croquet and a blend of in-house social functions. Bridge clubs, book club, formal dining, bus tours to significant events and members art shows are a sample of the interactive social life enjoyed by our members. People who do not play golf are welcome to become House/Social Members and take part in these other activities.
BRIDGE
The Club has a variety of bridge groups. For further information about times dates and how to book go to Bridge page in the “Members Only Section of the Bowral Golf Club website.
CROQUET
There is a Croquet Group which meets every Tuesday . 1.30-3pm in winter and 10-30-12md in the summer.
The Convenor is Frank Cullen 02/48624352. Check the details on the Croquet page of the “Members Only” Section of the Club website.
BOOK CLUB
There is a Book Club which meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 3pm at the club. The meetings last about 1-1 and a half hours and anyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments are available and I am told vary according to the nature of the book up for discussion. Either High Tea or Wine and Cheese . I guess if it is a thriller wine and cheese are definitely on the menu and maybe if it is a Jane Austen novel then it will be tea and cucumber sandwiches!!
It is advisable to book if you wish to attend and this can be done by e-mail below or by phoning Trudy at the Club Office. There is an attendance fee of $10 and the book for discussion is always posted on the club notice board. Men and Women are both welcome and anyone is welcome to attend and see if they would be interested without committing up front. Some members only attend occasionally or when the book of the month appeals to them. Members of the book club take turns to choose the next book to be read. …
DINE IN NIGHTS
The golf club holds regular Dine In Night Dinners. These dinners are open to members and their friends. Come with a partner or on your own or book a whole table or just a few seats if you want to. Every one is welcome . It’s a great way to meet people, make new friends and to introduce new people to the club or simply get the latest club news from fellow members. These night s are a lot of fun and a great way to support the club. We have a new chef who is producing the most stunning meals .
The cost is $50 a head for the dinner and drinks maybe purchased from the bar. It is essential to book. If you wish to book on line please do so by clicking on the link on the “Whats on the Social Scene” page in the “Members Only” section of the golf club website.
THEATRE GROUPS
Often the club arranges a trip to the theatre in Sydney by bus. The last group went to see “Phantom of the Opera”. Apparently a great night was had by all. “. Details will be posted here as soon as they become available.
