Local Southern Highlands golfers win both scratch and nett trophies in 2010 Jubilee Cup

Under glorious, autumnal Southern Highlands skies, and on a golf course presented in stunning condition, 54 players competed for the 2010 Jubilee Cup which is an official Vardon Event. The Bowral Golf Club is only 5402m long with a par 69. The course and greens were presented in immaculate condition but scoring was very difficult for what was an elite amateur field. The gross stroke average for the field was 79.3 and even top players with handicaps up to 4 averaged 75.2 or 6 strokes over par.

The only player to break par on the day was Wayne Knapp (2), Gibraltar Country Club who fired a 68 to win the Jubilee Cup by three strokes from Troy Monie (2), Worrigee who edged out William Flitcroft (2), Royal Sydney on a count back.

Bowral golfer Frank Eggert (11) showed his local knowledge shooting 66 for the best nett score, ahead of runner-up Matthew Akers (9), Bankstown Golf Club who had 67 to beat Brendon Dodds (6), Moss Vale Golf Club on a count back.

Stefan Albinski from Mona Vale Golf Club recorded a 75. Albinski is the current top ranked Australian Senior Amateur, Australian Senior Matchplay Champion, a winner of multiple State Seniors Championships in recent years and has competed in the last two Annual Australia V New Zealand Senior Team Challenge events.
