On 25th October 2008, Bowral Golf Club hosted the Inagural Professionals Skins Event.
Following on from its success last year the 2nd annual Pro-Skins Event took place at Bowral Golf Club on Sunday October 25th 2009.
Defending Champion, our own Tony White, as I said at the presentation, went from ‘rooster to feather duster’, finishing fourth after picking up two skins on the last hole.
The weather followed ‘Our Man’s’ fortunes, a beautiful day last year being followed by a dull, wet day this year, around 40 to 50 committed spectators following the players around.
Rob Kennedy took the first five skins on 5th with a fine iron shot close to the hole and a birdie three and was never headed after that. Members, and those who have played the course, will know that a three on the 5th will win most times, the hole being index 1 on the course. Rob picked up another two skins on the remaining holes, Larry Canning five skins and ‘rookie’ Kevin Kenny four skins.
We saw all sorts, great shots that left us in awe of the players and some very ordinary shots which we could all relate to. Holes were won with birdies and even an eagle (Kevin Kenny on the 10th hole) and a hole halved in bogey (2nd hole).
All players praised the condition of the course and rightly so, it was presented beautifully and is in exceptional condition.
Sponsor and Director of Total Maritime Logistics, Bob Kemp, deserved better luck with the weather and he is definitely ‘owed’ a nice day for next years event. Our sincere thanks to Bob for his generous support of this unique event, we are privileged to have him amongst our membership.

As last year, breakfast on the terrace from 9.30am was followed by a ‘meet the players’ and ‘whats in the bag’ session hosted by Steve Anderson - play began at 11am. A presentation attended by most of the spectators at around 3.30pm brought the day to a close.
Berrima District Rescue Squad/SES were the worthy benefitiary of the raffle, receiving over $1000 and also $400 donated by Bob Kemp when Larry Canning hit his tee shot to within a flagsticks length on the 11th hole.
Potential spectators are encouraged to put Sunday 24th October 2010 in the diary, it should be another great days entertainment!
