Club Information

Bowral Golf Club LTD was founded in 1901 and moved to the current location in 1917. The Club’s property of 37 hectares comprises golf course, clubhouse and other buildings and is owned freehold by the Club. The Club is a licensed club and is regulated under the Licensed Club Act of NSW 1976, The Corporations Act 2001 and several other State and Federal Acts. The Club belongs to the industry body, Clubs NSW. The Club’s Board is composed of up to 7 members who are elected annually, for a one year term. The President is Chairman of the Board and Members of the Board are required to undertake mandatory training provided by Clubs NSW with respect to their duties and responsibilities where required by the legislation. Under the Corporations Act, the Club is required to provide annual accounts and the Licensed Clubs Act also requires the production of interim accounts for each quarter. The Club’s Auditor is Hassos and Associates of Bowral.

Club Hours

  • The Office is open Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Times may vary depending on the needs of the Club and its members. If the office is unattended please see th staff at the bar.

    Times may vary depending on booked functions and special events that may occur from time to time. Extended hours may be arranged with the Secretary Manager.

    The Clubhouse is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday. It is also closed until 12 noon on Anzac Day. The Secretary Manager or Board may close the Clubhouse on other public holidays as deemed necessary.

  • Access to the locker rooms is available from 7:30 am daily except by pre-arrangement with the Club Manager or when otherwise advised. Locker Rooms will not be available on Christmas Day and at other times that may be deemed necessary as nominated by the Club Manager or Board.

  • The Pro Shop is open Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. It is closed on Christmas Day and until noon on Anzac Day.

  • The Clubhouse is closed on Christmas Day. The Clubhouse is also closed until 12 noon on Anzac Day, and no competition, social play, or practice is to take place prior to that time. From time to time, the Secretary Manager or Board may close the Clubhouse on other days as deemed necessary.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The Code of Conduct provides members, guests and visitors with guidance on the standards of behaviour that are expected of them while they are on Club premises and in their interactions with others in the Club. It has been developed by the Club to ensure everyone can enjoy the amenities provided and relationships with others in a safe, enjoyable, and responsible manner. Accordingly, members, guests and visitors shall:

  • Respect the rights of others to enjoy the Club’s facilities and services.

  • Interact with each other, the Club’s employees and its volunteers in a courteous manner.

  • Not engage in behaviour towards each other, the Club’s employees or its volunteers that is deemed to be offensive, derogatory, defamatory, or abusive.

  • Show respect towards the Club’s employees and not interfere with their duties.

  • Not engage in disorderly or disruptive behaviour.

  • Show due consideration to the needs of others, including their right to privacy.

  • Comply with the Club’s policies, signage, and lawful directions of employees.

  • Not tarnish the reputation of the Club or bring it into disrepute.

  • Adhere to commonly accepted standards of golfing etiquette and sportsmanship as well as the Rules of Golf and any Local Rules.

  • Refrain from wearing obscene or offensive clothing or displaying obscene or offensive tattoos or markings.

  • Behave in a manner conducive to the enjoyment of the Club’s facilities for all persons.

Members and visitors of the Club will be deemed to have accepted this Code of Conduct by attending the Club’s premises and may obtain a copy of the Code from the Club office. The Code of Conduct is actively monitored by the Board and applies at all times. If a breach occurs and/or is brought to the attention of the Club’s officers or employees, the Club may initiate disciplinary action which may include refusal of entry, verbal or written warning, withdrawal of certain privileges and suspension or termination of membership, as per Bowral Golf Club’s Constitution.

DRESS CODE

Members and visitors should at all times maintain a standard of dress commensurate with the dignity of the Club. On competition days members should wear acceptable golfing attire. Blue denim jeans during Club Competitions is unacceptable attire on the course. At all times members and non-members must dress appropriately. A neat casual dress code applies to all people using the Clubhouse & Course. Unacceptable attire in the Clubhouse or on the Course:

  • Shirts without a collar

  • Sleeveless/singlet tops

  • Workwear

  • Beach apparel

  • Gym clothing,

  • Shoes with heavy treads or thongs,

  • Damaged or dirty clothing. 

Bowral Golf Club has a soft spike policy. Golf shoes may be worn in the Clubhouse provided they are clean and free of mud and grass. Dress standards for dinners or dining-in nights are detailed on the Club’s noticeboard for each event. It is the responsibility of Members to inform their guests and visitors of these requirements. The interpretation and enforcement of acceptable dress is at the discretion of the Secretary Manager or his/her representatives including all Clubhouse staff, Pro-shop staff and Board members of the Club. 

COMPLAINTS

Any complaints should be made in writing to the Secretary Manager who will take the appropriate action or refer it to the appropriate Board Member or Committee. 

A Member shall not, at any time, reprimand any employee of the Club.

CATERING & FUNCTIONS

Meals: A sandwich bar is available on Sunday & Monday.

The Club provides a luncheon service in the Clubhouse from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday to Saturday. 

Functions: The Club runs various dinners and functions. Bookings are required in advance for all functions, please book and pay at the bar. Notice is necessary for all special dietary requirements at the time of booking. 

Booking Priority: Where numbers have to be limited, seating allotment will follow the order of booking. Details of functions are displayed on the Notice Board.

Cancellation Policy: No charge will be made for cancellations received up to 5 days before a function or special event. Charges will be made for all cancellations made less than five (5) days before the commencement of a function.

Special Functions: The Club is available for special functions, weddings, dinners, parties and other events. Bookings may be made with our Events Manager. All budgets are catered for with prices available on request.

Bookings: Bookings are essential for all functions. Please note, that functions are subject to change without notice. Please check the Club’s notice board, the Club’s Newsletter and the website. All enquiries should be referred to the Events Manager.

Paying for functions: Bookings and payment can be made at the bar, please ensure that you receive a receipt from the cash register for all pre-paid functions.

GRATUITIES

A Staff Christmas Fund has been established that members may give gratuities to staff, it is distributed appropriately to all staff of the Golf Club annually. No gratuity or money may be given directly to any employee.

MEMBERSHIP

All enquiries should be directed to the Club Manager. Membership is for one (1) year. The membership year starts in July. However, it is possible to join part-way through a year and the subscription fees are adjusted accordingly.

Membership entitles the members to use the facilities of the club such that their category of membership allows. The club's policy is that membership may not be suspended for a period where a member will not use the club's facilities. Payment options are available.

MOBILE PHONES

Mobiles in the clubhouse must be set to ‘Silent’. For phone calls please excuse yourself from the clubhouse.

VISITORS

Visitors are welcome to visit the club both socially and for a golfing event. Visitors residing within 5 kilometres of the club may be signed in by a full member on 3 occasions only. Visitors attending a club-approved function are not required to sign in.

Golfing Information

  • Members are encouraged to patronise the services provided by the Club Pro Shop. 4861 1042 Option 1.

  • From time to time maintenance on the course such as mowing, trimming or irrigation may be carried out during competitions.

  • Members and visitors should at all times maintain a standard of dress commensurate with the dignity of the Club. On competition day’s members should wear acceptable golfing attire. Blue denim jeans during Club Competitions are unacceptable attire on the course. At all times members and non-members must dress appropriately. A neat casual dress code applies to all people using the Clubhouse & Course.

    Unacceptable are in the Clubhouse or on the Course:

    • Shirts without a collar,

    • Sleeveless/singlet tops

    • Workwear Beach apparel, Gym clothing

    • Active Wear

    • Shoes with heavy treads or thongs

    • Damaged or dirty clothing.

  • Members are reminded of their responsibilities as outlined in Section 1 of The Rules of Golf. Copies of theRules are available from the Secretary Manager. If you wish to play through a slow group, please be courteous when making the request.

  • Playing members of other registered golf clubs (with current Australian handicap) are welcome to play in competitions for payment of normal green fees plus the nominated competiton fee. Visitors are not eligible towin Club Trophies or Medals or to compete in the Club Championships.

  • Players who hold a membership to Virtual golf clubs, Golf websites or to clubs that oer distance memberships in order to obtain a golfink number are not permitted to enter club competitions. Examples of non-complying clubs are: Qantas Golf Club, Howlong GC, Tully Park GC, The Ridge GC, Below the pin and Futuregolf. Players should check their eligibility before entering our competitions to avoid disappointment. The Captain may make a discretionary call for special events.

  • Moss Vale Golf Club, Highlands Golf Club, Gibraltar Country Club and Mount Broughton Members are welcome to play at Bowral Golf Club. A reduced green fee is payable plus the nominated competition fee will apply.

    These local Club members are not eligible to win Club Trophies or Medals, or to compete in the Club Championships.

    As a member of Bowral Golf Club arrangements have been made with these local golf clubs to play on theirCourse at a reduced rate.

  • The Club will maintain Australian handicaps for Members (where Bowral Golf Club has been nominated as theMembers Home Club if the Member is a member of more than one club) and current Australian handicaps for all Members are available on the Club House computers. All competitions will be played on Australian handicap and the Monthly Medal will be played in three grades. Monthly Medal events: Div. A – Handicap 0-15; Div. B – Handicap 16-25; Div. C – Handicap 26 -36. Information about handicaps to be used in various competitions is available on the Club House computers.   • On any competition day, playing members may invite visitors at the payment of the member guest green fee plus competition fee. This privilege does not extend to six-day playing members on Saturday competition days.

    Six-day members may play on Saturdays by paying the full green fee plus competition fee but are not eligible to win Trophy or medal events. Members’ guests are not eligible to win Trophy or medal events. A Member may invite the same guest no more than 3 times in any one year. Member’s guests may only play socially or a maximum of three occasions before he or she will be invited to become a member of the Club. Social members and golfing members are not allowed to be another member’s guest and must pay the full visitor green fee plus applicable competition fees. Members may invite a maximum of three guests to play socially paying a green fee. The same guest may only play socially a maximum of three occasions before he or she will be invited to become a member of the Club. There are separate Eagle’s Nest competitions on Saturdays and Wednesdays, which are open to Members only.

  • Mobile phones on the course must be set to ‘Silent’. Phone calls on the golf course should be for emergencies only.

  • Members and Visitors are requested to comply with The following rules when using carts on the Course. All cart users are liable for any damage caused.

    • Alcohol is not to be consumed whilst in control of a motorised cart.

    • Carts must not be driven within ten (10) metres of a green or between bunkers and the green, nor driven onto any teeing areas.

    • Carts must not be parked in front of greens.

    • Carts must be driven carefully, avoiding slopes on which the cart could capsize.

    • Avoid damp or worn areas.

    • Follow all directional signs and park carts in the designated areas at the side of fairways.

    • Do not transport more than two people in a cart.

    • Wherever possible, carts are to be driven in the rough or off closely mown portions.

    • When using carts, consideration must be given to other players.

    • A Drivers Licence or Proof of Age ID Card will need to be sighted.

    • Minimum age of all drivers MUST be 18 years old. This is an insurance requirement.

  • Here at the Club, we have a practice putting green adjacent to the clubhouse terrace. There is a practice area and chipping green between the 1st Tee and the 18th green. Members may also hire range balls from the pro shop.

    Members may also play practice strokes to an adjacent fairway in the direction of play from any area of rough on the Course PROVIDED that players on the Course are not inconvenienced. Practice from/on fairways is not permitted. Sand buckets must be carried at all times when practicing and divots repaired.

    When using the practice area between the first and eighteenth fairways on competition days, practice balls must be collected prior to competitors playing those holes.

    Members may play a practice round on the Course, but no more than TWO BALLS are to be used. Members are reminded that they must carry their membership cards as the course is patrolled by staff.

    When the course is closed, no practice of any type is permitted with the exception that the chipping area may be used.

    The Pro Shop uses the first fairway for lessons, and its availability for practice should be confirmed with the Pro Shop. Under no circumstances are greens other than the practice green to be used for practice.

    Members should note that any breaches of the above will be referred to the committee and may result in playing rights being suspended. The protection of the Course is paramount.

  • Greens staff always have "RIGHT OF WAY"

    All players are reminded that if the flagstick has been removed from the hole on a green, then that hole is out of play. (This is a rule of golf)

    Likewise, if members of the green staff are working on the fairways or greens and are in danger of being hit by golf balls, players are required to wait until the green staff indicate that it is safe to continue play.

    This directive applies to both competition and social play.

  • Bowral Golf Club encourages "Ready Golf," however, safety of playing members is paramount. Members must be diligent in avoiding slow play, and the low marker in your group is responsible for maintaining an acceptable pace of play. Your group must keep up with the group ahead. If your group is more than one hole behind the group ahead, allow the group behind to play through. Players searching for a lost ball should signal the group behind them to play through, as soon as possible. In Par and Stableford events, players must pick up when unable to score at least a half or a point.

    Members are reminded of the correct procedure for addressing issues with other players or visitors' conduct on the course that is not in accordance with expectations or policy. In both instances, please contact the pro-shop, who will attend to the matter rather than instruct appropriate behavior directly. The pro-shop staff has been trained in the correct approach to these matters.

  • At any time when there is storm activity nearby, there is a significant risk of being struck by lightning. Due to the unpredictability of lightning strikes, it is not possible to determine when players are at risk. The Club will not be liable for death or injury by lightning by attempting to forecast it. Players should seek shelter inside an enclosed building without delay if there is a risk.

    As general advice, places and things to avoid include:

    • Small structures or sheds

    • Open fields

    • Close proximity to the tallest localised structures (surveillance towers, trees, light poles, antennas)

    • Umbrellas

    • Swimming pools, lakes, dams, or water generally

    Persons should also refrain from holding or contacting metal objects or using devices connected to electrical or phone lines.

    Likewise, storms can exacerbate the possibility of falling objects such as tree limbs. Bowral Golf Club has adopted a policy common to many golf clubs, in that it is the responsibility of each player to check weather forecasts before playing at Bowral Golf Club.
