Golf Australia – System Upgrade to Golf Connect

Dear Members,

This is important information sent out by Golf Australia, about the shutdown of GOLF Link, your new Golf ID, and how to get set up on the new Golf Australia Official App and GOLF.com.au.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY – THESE DETAILS ARE IMPORTANT

From 8pm AWST /10pm AEST, Sunday September 28, 2025, the 25 year old GOLF Link system will be shut down permanently as part of Golf Australia’s once-in-a-generation technology upgrade.

On Thursday October 2, we launch the new Golf Australia Official App and golfer portal at GOLF.com.au – your new home for handicaps, scoring history and much more.

Your new Golf ID

Your current home club GOLF Link number is now your Golf ID for life:

From October 2, you’ll use this Golf ID to register and log in across the new Golf Australia ecosystem. Please keep it handy – you’ll need it to activate your GOLF.com.au account.

How to register after October 2

  1. Visit GOLF.com.au and click through to the Sign up / Login page

  2. Enter your Golf ID and we’ll send a verification email to your linked account.

  3. Create a new password and confirm your Golf ID profile details.

  4. Download the new Golf Australia Official App from your app store.

We strongly encourage all golfers to confirm their email address and access to the current handicap portal on GOLF.org.au, before 28 September. If you can’t access the email linked to your account after this date, you will need to contact your club to update your details.

Transition period: What to expect

During the transition, some services will be interrupted. We ask for your patience as we complete this significant change to migrate more than 250 million scores from over 2 million unique golfer accounts.

 Key dates:

Sept 28 (8pm AWST / 10pm AEST)

  • GOLF Link permanently shuts down.

  • All your handicap history and scoring records will start transferring across to the new platform.

 Sept 29 - Oct 1

  • Offline period

  • Handicap services offline – no score submissions.

  • Current GA Handicap App and golf.org.au handicap lookup remain view-only.

  • Handicaps will be recalculated to align with World Handicap System changes.

 Oct 1

  • Major transition day for both websites and handicap services.

  • Expect interrupted access as systems are cut over.

  • Handicap lookups and related services may be temporarily unavailable.

  • You may be redirected between multiple old and new sites as GOLF.com.au comes online throughout the day.

  • We recommend avoiding the use of websites and handicap services today, and checking back once the new system goes live on 2 October.

 Oct 2

  • New Golf Australia App available to download in your app store.

  • New golfer portal live at GOLF.com.au.

  • Members’ recalculated handicaps available. Most golfers will see a small change, projected to be less than 0.5 strokes on average. Some players may see a bigger adjustment based on their unique scoring history.

 Oct 2 - 10

  • Clubs start to come online.

  • Some clubs may take until around 10 October to complete their transition.

  • This is normal and part of the phased migration of more than 1,900 clubs – including integration with third-party apps and platforms used by clubs.

When does competition golf start again?

The resumption of competition golf will depend on your club’s unique situation.

Refer to your club for the latest information about when your transition is complete.

Be advised that your club’s transition to the new platform could take until around Oct 10 to complete, after which your club can recommence competition and handicap rounds, via your club’s standard process.

Members of clubs using the Golf Australia CONNECT Venue Management Software can enter, track and submit scores through the new Golf Australia App during competition or eligible casual rounds.

 Supported devices

Most Apple and Android devices from 2016 onwards are compatible with the new Golf Australia App. If your device is older and can’t be updated to the latest supported operating system, you can still access your handicap in the new mobile-friendly golfer portal at GOLF.com.au.

 Support available

Over 1,300 Golfer Onboarding Champions will be at clubs nationwide from October 2 to help members register their Golf ID.

The Golf Australia Customer Support Team are available 7 days a week 6.30am – 8.30pm AEST throughout the transition to help.

This is the largest digital upgrade in the history of golf in Australia, supporting more than 450,000 active golfers and 1,900 clubs and venues. As with any major technology upgrade of this scale, you may experience occasional interruptions during the initial transition. We appreciate your patience and support as we settle into the new system.

Kind regards,

Golf Australia
